The Mass Index Oscillator ( MIO ) is designed to identify possible market extremes by analysis the variation in distance between daily high and low prices. The greater the distance the greater the volatility and the lesser the distance the lesser the volatility. By using EMA's of this measure, the intermediate 'noise' can be eliminated, leaving just the raw information.
