Price Tools - Gann Fan - Falling
The Gann Fan tool is designed to mark up a chart with common rise and run ratios. Similar in action to Trend lines and the Gann Angles, except that more than one line can be placed on the chart. Lines drawn from Highs and lows, act as an indicator for future Support and Resistance zones, as well as indicate possible areas of Price -Time squares.

Referring to the graphic, we simply select a point in time ( usually a high or a low ) and the Tool will automatically draw the Gann Fan out to the edge of the visible chart space. The user defined rise/run ratios are labeled on the end of the line, making it easier to recognize various lines on the chart.

Note( 1) . Gann Fan ratios are read of as x Number Points (as per the Price step selected) in y Number of Days

The Gann Fan tool also allows for the alteration of the Price Step. The default setting is 1 however when applying this to stocks then perhaps a rise/run ratio of 0.10 ( 10 cents ) may be more applicable.

Note( 2) . The Gann Fan tool also allows for the User to create pre-defined Price Steps.

Version 5 introduces the concept of Highlights. This allows the user to define translucent colored regions between user defined regions as can be seen in the image above. The highlights are independent of the ratio levels, allowing the display to show both Ratio levels and highlights simultaneously, or just the highlighted regions as shown in this display.

Usage

  1. Select the button for drawing Gann Fan Falling from the Toolbar.
  2. Move the mouse pointer over the starting position for the Line. This may be either a high or a low price.
  3. Press the left mouse button once.

Properties
The property editor as well as other functions may be accessed by holding the mouse pointer over the Gann Fan lines and Clicking the Right Mouse button. A popup menu will appear ( see picture ). As can be seen, the Price Step for that specific Gann Fan is also highlighted on the Popup menu. This is because you may have several Gann fans on the Chart, each constructed using a differing Price Step value.

The user may then open the Indicator Property Editor, move the Gann Fan above or below other indicators, Hide the Gann Fan or delete the Gann Fan from the Chart.

Property Editor
The property editor as well as other functions may be accessed by holding the mouse pointer over the indicator line and Clicking the Right Mouse button. You can also access the Property Editor directly by 'Double Clicking' on the line. All the drawing tools share the same property editor allowing the user to alter the following properties:
  • Price Step Value
  • Line Width
  • Label Font
  • Translucent Color
  • Translucent Visibility
  • Translucent Strength
After alteration, the user has the ability to set these settings as default for all future lines drawn on the page.
