Primary purpose of the Gannalyst Web Site is first and foremost, a place
where beginners can come and get a feel for the art of Technical Analysis
of financial markets. With this in mind, basic information and constantly
updated commentary is available free of charge, as is the Gannalyst Lite
Charting application.
As for the software available on this web site, the idea for the Gannalyst
application came from a search of the Internet looking for suitable software
to aid in analyzing Financial Markets. This search resulted in the purchase
of a number of products, all of which had their own advantages and disadvantages.
What stood out prominently with my purchases, as well as other 'Trial Versions',
was that in all cases the software could be classified into two Sectors:
- The software was written by a programmer with little or no Analysis/Trading
Experience.
- The software was written by an experienced market analyst with little
or no experience in writing software.
As a professional software engineer with over 15 years development experience
behind me as well as 20 years market analysis experience, it seemed logical
at this point that I should write my own software, developing it to mirror
as close as possible, what I wanted to achieve in my analysis. I wanted
the software to do what I wanted to do....... and do it the way I wanted
to do it. That was way back in April 1999.
What has surprised me most has been the the interest generated by a number
of associates who have had little or no experience in Market analysis
but were willing to learn. Bearing in mind my initial experience in analysis,
and the numerous pitfalls that lie in wait for the aspiring Trader I decided
to first produce a 'Beginners' version of my software. This software would
utilize the basic features that are required to get a feel for technical
analysis, as well as allowing the aspirant to make a valued judgment as
to market direction.
The end result of all of the above is the release of Gannalyst-Lite
as freeware, available to anyone free of charge. The purpose of the Gannalyst
- Lite application is to give the user the ability to create charts of
their favorite Stock or Futures contract and become familiar with some
of the basic tenets of analysis. Importantly as well, become familiar
with LOOKING at charts. The more you look, the better you will get at
perceiving and recognizing pattern.
Version 5 (Oct 2005) introduces the Gannalyst Standard version which is a powerful Charting and Analysis application but without the more advanced Gann style analysis toolset. Although not free, it has been competitively priced.
For those wishing to investigate some of the more advanced aspects of
technical analysis there is the Gannalyst Professional 5 application available
for evaluation and purchase. This is the software that I designed and
wrote, primarily for my own use. It is what I use on a daily basis for
my own personal analysis and trading decisions. It is available as a 21
day evaluation, after which time it will require a registration file to
function. This Registration file is supplied upon purchase.
